Seeing the Space Shuttle in FL.

We are plannnig to try to see the space shuttle launch in April. Any suggestions? Will the costs of hotels go up with a launch? Where do you watch it from. We have little kids 5 and 7, any suggestions?


Wait for it.....

I saw the shuttle launch in 1996. At that time we were at the official grandstands (probably the same ones they sell tickets for today). All in all it wasn't that kid friendly - kids hate waiting and there isn't much for them to do there while they watch the countdown tick down. It was a lot of waiting and then 2 minutes of the best show of your lifetime. We had to park far out and take a bus to the site . I would suggest packing activities (coloring books and the like) that they can do while they wait.
